Giving GirlsLast year, two fifth graders at Mason Intermediate started a non-profit business, Giving Girls, and in November kicked-off their second Annual Toy Drive.

Inspired by their desire to spread kindness, MI Team Velocity's Maddie Evers and Team Pioneer's Elise Tong participate in and lead various community service activities.

"We started Giving Girls, because we wanted to change the world by spreading kindness, serving the community, and inspiring giving," shared Tong. "Around the holiday season, we organize a toy drive. Last year we donated toys to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and this year we will donate toys to the The Dragonfly Foundation."

The Giving Girls' Toy Drive began at the Mason Kroger on Sunday, November 18 with plenty of success. The Girls received lots of donations, including six extra large bins full of toys, $610 in gift cards, and $381 in cash. To raise more money, Evers and Tong set up a bake sale in their neighborhood and raised $117.

"Thanks to Mr. Messer for the toy donation and for highlighting the Giving Girls in the weekly MI newsletter," shared Elise's mother, Courtney Tong. "The girls are very lucky to have the support of their school administrators & teachers!"
